The village of Khndzoresk is a unique landmark, created jointly by nature itself and human labor. There are a large number of ancient caves on the territory of Khndzoresk. In some places, the caves are located in several tiers. Thus, the “cave city” resembles a multi-storey building. The history of Khndzoresk caves goes back over a thousand years. People continued to live here until the 1950s, after which, by decision of the Soviet authorities, they were relocated to a village built nearby, which was called “New Khndzoresk”. Old and New Khndzoresk are today considered a single settlement. The two parts of the village are located on opposite sides of the gorge, which are connected by a suspension bridge of Khndzoresk.
