Description

The Byurakan Astrophysical Observatory named after V. A. Ambartsumyan of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Armenia is currently one of the most important and advanced institutions  in its field. The construction of the observatory began back in 1946. The initiator was Viktor Ambartsumyan, who held the post of Corresponding Member of the USSR Academy of Sciences. In a later period, an outstanding scientist, astrophysicist Viktor Ambartsumyan worked for a long time as the director of the observatory in Byurakan. In 2015, the Byurakan Observatory received the official status of a regional center in the field of astronomy. Today, the institution has at its disposal a number of high-quality equipment of international level.
