The monastic complex of Saint-Hovhannes or Srbanes (VIIIth-XVIIth centuries), is in the village Ardvi. The complex is made up of two churches and a bell tower. In the surroundings one can find khachkars (stone crosses), an ancient temple and the ruins of various buildings. Hovhannes Odznetsi, the 34th Armenian Catholicos is buried there and every year on April 17, the Armenian Apostolic Church organizes a pilgrimage to Ardvi.
The monastery served as the filming location for the film "The Color of Pomegranate" (1968) by the famous Armenian director Sergei Parajanov.
